checking in

Howdy! I wanted to check in because it's been a sec since I've posted. I got this site all set up and really enjoyed getting it all together, then I got sort of swept up with other things. I also started working full-time, so maybe that has something to do with it. I guess I'm fine witht there being some time gaps, but there's still a lot to do with the page and it's so much more lively when you post on regular basis.

Still been trying to keep up with my ambitious good reads goal - currently at 21 books this year, which is actually 3 less than it should be right now. I"m in the middle of a thing of H.P. Lovecraft's stories and also Imagined Communites by Bendedict Anderson. I was really excited to read Lovecraft as a part of a braoder exploration with gothic lit and sci-fi, and also this particualr book is a really cool paper-back with this vintage, pulpy feel to it. I had found it in this bookstore when I was in upstate new york on a trip with some friends. It looks kinda like this:

Gotta say though, getting though it has been kind of a slog. At The Mountains of Madness in particular was cool, but I felt like it went on FOREVER. I've been liking some of the other stories a bit more. Imagined Comunnites is okay. Interesting, but still a bit boring. I've taking a long break from Marx/Engels that I really need to end if I want to finish it this year and get to any other of the larger books I want to read.

I've also started going to more open mics! I've been having a lot of fun performing again, and working on some new songs. I may be doing more stuff with music really soon and I'm hyped. I've been trying to practice more with guitar, piano, and logic.

But yeah, this site needs a lot more attention. I also need ot make it look better. I kind of liked the white at first, but it can be a little grating on the eyes. I think I'll alsol try to fill it in more if that makes sense? It looks very blank right now. I think I still want it to have that minmialist aesthetic, so mayble I'll just invert the colors and that'll be that. We'll see.
