Happy new year, everone! Hope you were doing something fun when the clock struck midnight. If not, no worries - i was in the same boat. Drinking is bad for you and it's just another night, anyways. Zohran's offically mayor now, though, which is pretty tight.
I have big plans for voidtext in 2026. Well, not really. The main thing is that I'd like to post here everyday. I might have tried to do this before never took it very seriously. Since I'm trying to be more mindful about what, where, and how I write, I feel like it makes sense to give daily blogging a shot. I know I've mentioned making changes to the format so I'll try to get around to that, too.
I saw a broadway show for the first time in a while - Waiting for Godot with Keanu Reeves and Alex Winters. I had read it and Endgame last year when I was doing my 100 books challenge and I remember liking Endgame better and not getting much from Godot. I really enjoyed it though, seeing it performed with Jamie Llyod's unique direction and design principle brought a lot out of it. The whole play basically happens in this big pipe-looking thing and they use no props. What really stole the show for me was Micheal Patrick Thorton as Lucky. Lucky's monologue wasn't very interesting to me when I read it, but Thorton brought out all of the schizophenic poetry in it. When I've looked at recordings of past perfromances and how other actors have approached it, they seem to take it straighter, almost like how you'd recite a Shakesphere sonnet. It's just too slow and lucid for something so abstract and absurd. Might try to fit Beckket's Three Novels trilogy in this year since I liked this so much - I know that's a big peice that went into Anti-Oedipus.

It's been a while since I've read any real theory, honestly - I'll have to try and get back into it. There's defintely a whole lot to sort out if we're going to move forward from here.
Don't stop believin'
